The Monadhliath Deer Management Group (MDMG) is one of the largest Deer Management Groups in the UK. Situated south of Inverness and north-east of Spean Bridge in the Scottish Highlands, the area of Red deer range actively managed by the group comprises approximately 150,200 ha.
MDMG meets regularly to consider deer management issues and also with Scottish Natural Heritage, about the most appropriate way to manage deer in the group area. In April 2013 the DMG agreed to prepare a new Strategic Deer Management Plan (SDMP) because the previous plan, updated over the period 2003-2005, was due for refresh in the view of many members.
